Rebecca Skloot 2017

It feels good to let the truth out. #RIPHenrietta #NHSHenrietta

- I finally published my book and let top he world see what has happened to science

"if you gonna go into history, you can’t do it with a hate attitude. You got to remember, times was different.”(Skloot,1026) #NHSHenrietta

- this is an important quote from my book it shows that just because something is not socially acceptable now does not mean the same for the past

After you gave the cells to the pathology lab. You sent Henrietta home. Was that the right choice?#NHSHenrietta

- This was a response to the doctor of Henrietta lacks that let her go home after finding the aggressive cancer

Henrietta's Immortal cells should be called immoral cells #NHSHenrietta

- I show the importance on concent by calling the cells that save people immortal

Isn't it disappointing to see how Henrietta's family has been torn apart? #NHSHenrietta

- after all of my interviews and research most of the Lacks family was suffering and had no aid.

RAND Corporation reported “that more than 307 million tissue samples”(Skloot,639) #NHSHenrietta

- even this report was reserved and their was definitely more than the estimated amount.

I am disappointed but I completely understand why. Thanks @LacksSonny #NHSHenrietta

Hopefully you can help the next person with cervical Cancer!#NHSHenrietta

If anyone needed the money it was the family and not the doctors#FamilyFirst #NHSHenrietta

- I appreciate the doctors for creating cures and antibiotics but I do not agree with how they handle money

Thanks Deborah for the insight “how come her family can’t afford to see no doctors?”(Skloot,49) #NHSHenrietta

- Deborah said this and it shows how unfortunate they were to not afford doctors that their mother made wealthy.

Hopkins hospital has a disappointing past but hopefully it can use the Hela cells for good and not profit. #NHSHenrietta

- over the Hopkins hospitals history it has a bad track record. They were racist and would keep information from families. The He La cells and what they do with them could change that.

It's too bad I can only report and not prevent bad desicions.#NHSHenrietta

She was still taken advantage of. No matter what race she was it was still wrong to do that to her and her family. #NHSHenrietta

-this response was to Dr. Howard Jones that was defending himself saying that he was not racist. I concluded it was not about color but he still did wrong.

It is the most important discovery and the family that lost a mother for the cause should not have to live in poverty #NHSHenrietta

Why does the lacks family life in poverty when people pay millions for her cells?#HeLa #NHSHenrietta

- I ask myself this everyday and I want to start a conversation about why scientists cut them out.

I think that people should be okay with giving up some cells for research but they should be asked. Consent to use someone's cell is absolutely necessary. This is because it is immoral to hide that you have a part of someone that you are experimenting on.
